FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS ABOUT CHIROPRACTIC:
How does Chiropractic work?
Chiropractic
works because we are all self-healing, self-regulating organisms
controlled by our nervous system. Millions of instructions
flow from our brain, down the spinal cord and out to all
organs and tissues. Signals sent back from our brain verify
if our body is working right. Improper motion or position
of the moving bones of the spine (called a subluxation)
irritates nerves and compromises the function of affected
organs and tissues. Specific spinal adjustments can help
improve mind/body communications and will restore proper
motion in the bones of the spine.
Will my insurance cover chiropractic treatment?
In the majority of cases,
insurance coverage is available. At our office, we will verify your plan and assist
in working out a manageable payment schedule if your insurance plan is insufficient
or has no coverage. Dr. Cole is in network with various PPO insurance carriers including,
BlueCross Blue Shield, Humana, Aetna, United Healthcare, WholeHealth Network,
PHCS and Medicare. Please contact our office is you have questons regarding
chiropractic coverage with your insurance.
Do I have to go to a chiropractor forever?
Once
the cause of the problem is corrected, many people feel
better than they have in months or years. Because of this,
some people do choose to come in for periodic check-ups
to ensure continued good health and prevention of problem
reoccurrence. Continuing any treatment plan and following
lifestyle recommendations ultimately depends on the patient’s
dedication.
How well educated are chiropractic doctors?
The chiropractic school
curriculum is very similar to that used in medical school.
The difference lies in the emphasis. Chiropractic school
emphasizes anatomy, physiology, neurology, biomechanics,
x-ray, nutrition, and other related subjects. Medical school
students receive more class hours in pharmacology and pathology.
To graduate with a Doctor of Chiropractic degree, each candidate
must pass the demanding National Board Examination. To stay
current with the most recent research and new techniques,
Doctors then continue their knowledge by fulfilling a required
amount of continuing education hours each year.

Can you be too young or too old for chiropractic care?
No. More and more people are consulting chiropractic
doctors not only for themselves, but also for their families.
Some parents bring their children in to be checked due
to problems caused by birthing trauma, childhood falls
and accidents, "growing pains," and ear infections.
Older adults with spinal degeneration or decreased mobility
are also using the natural approach of chiropractic. Many
people also see chiropractors in order to restore better
spinal function, improve arthritis symptoms, and improve
over all mobility and vitality.
